The Big 3

The "Big 3" arrived: 2009 September issues of Vogue, Elle and Harper's Bazaar. For the fashion enthusiast, these are key to inspiring great style. In summary, I was breathless. Fashion just rocks this season.

The trends for Fall run the gamut: the 80's/rocker (Rodarte's leather leggings, Balmain's strong shoulder jacket), the ladylike 40's (Ellie Saab's long black dress, Lanvin's fur stoles) and the classics (MaxMara's camel hair coats in bolder silhouettes, Michael Kors' black sheath dress).

Accessories also had their moment to shine: over the knee boots rocked the runways at Gucci. The statement necklace (and I mean, "statement") is both hip and hefty (Lanvin).  Leather, studs, ruffles, neon, fur elements and headbands are all options to consider this season.

styling tips:

1.) This season is all about making the old new again, so re-style what's in your closet. If you choose to spend, there are many options that translate the high look at low cost: Zara, H&M, Topshop.com, etc.

2.) Get a boyfriend blazer for multiple uses: pair it with a rocker T-shirt, skinny, distressed jeans OR with a lady-like ruffled blouse, pencil skirt and a pair of biker-chic booties.

3.) It's cool to be basic: trench coat, shift dress, pencil skirt, white button-down shirt, camel hair coat and  black leggings are all of-the-moment-basics.

4.) It's Christmas in September, so think red and jade. Accessories are a good place to start with these colors: an oversized cocktail ring, a structured handbag, a beautiful pair of pumps.

5.) 80's4EVER: The geometric look is very cool (see the Ava Dress at Club Monaco), but shoulder pads done wrong could be lethal.

6.) Black is back. Amen.
